[No no no no no no. No. That's not her mom. That's not her mom, and this isn't the airport, and it's another nightmare, it has to be. What else could it be? It's a dream and it's not her dream and that means she's trapped.]

[Anybody in New Bark will likely catch the sight of a little girl slowly backing away from the house she'd woken up in with wide eyes before breaking into a run and coming to a stop next to some trees to dig through her backpack. Except it's not her own backpack. And the things inside aren't what she wants or needs them to be.]

[Which is a big stressor to a kid who has no idea what to do.]

Someone said time stops back home, did you know that? If that's true I guess you don't really have to worry at all.

_{[She says, still deeply worried and not quite buying into that fact, but you know.]}

[So out of hand that you gotta watch where you tie your dog in the event that he drags your whole house away.]

Mhm, I've heard about that. Yaknow...some friends of mine from home actually showed up here a couple weeks ago. Just for a little while, a few days...but they told me the last time they saw me was only a few minutes ago for them. And I've been gone for months.

So, it looks like it might be true.

I wonder who's doing that. If that's the same person who got us here or not.

_{[Asking the Big Questions. Because obviously, being kidnapped to here is a bad thing, but if someone's considerate enough to stop time .. that seems like a good thing? But maybe it isn't.]}

Dunno. Could be someone....or something. People have lots of different ideas, but nobody really knows what's the right one.

Mm...I 'spose it's possible. But there are also people who have been here for a real long time. Like, four years, long.

I figure they would've figured it out by now if these people were hiding something from us.

Not if they don't know who it is.

That's what everyone's telling me, that nobody really knows who's doing anything.

Mm...that's cause nobody really does. At least, as far as I know. It's not that there isn't a way home, cause people do go back all the time...it's just not something we can control, I guess.

I guess it's possible. If that were so, then they've gotten away with this pretty well for a long time...

_{[TELLING SILENCE ... and Molly looking down at her bird both to seek comfort and to buy herself some time.]

[Jimmy's expression flickers at that for just a moment before softening.]

You are right, though. It could be a bad guy...but it could be something else, too.

_{[Looking up in that way that shows she's kind of forcibly pushing away what's on her mind, she changes the subject.]}

The map says there's only one way to go from here. Do you know how long it takes? I think I have to go soon. I don't want to stay here.

Lemme think...the road to Cherrygrove is pretty short, compared to how long it takes to get to Violet. It'll take about three days. From Cherrygrove to Violet, it's a week on foot...so you might wanna make sure you're really prepared before you try traveling that far.

I think for now, though, you should be okay getting to Cherrygrove.

_{[Nodding seriously, she puts the bird down and goes through her backpack again. She misses her own backpack. It had better things in it.]

[She still flashes him a smile though.]}
