2 ✶ video/action

[Video! Molly's sitting on a park bench in Cherrygrove, a Natu and a shiny Sentret fighting for space in her lap.]

I wanted to say thanks to everyone who helped me last time. I can't remember everyone's names, but thanks.

[There were a lot of you people. But she does appreciate it, which is why she's reaching out again.]

But ... okay, I have to ask a few things. I've heard people talk about badges, what are those?

And ... well, what are pokémon supposed to eat?

[Video tilts to show the pokémon she's concerned for, then back up to Molly's face.]

They've kind of been eating my food, but I don't know if that's good for them. But I haven't really found anything in those stores either, like bird food or ... dog food or anything like that. So if anyone could help me with that that'd be great.

[Action if anyone in Cherrygrove wants to bump into her!]

Badges are sort of like a little prize, or at least that's how I've been seeing it. When you beat a gym and get the badge, you also get some money and a new move you can teach to your pokemon, and the ability to use a special one wherever you want. Like... flying. If you have one that knows Fly and you beat uh...

[Give him a second here to remember the name. It's been a little over a year since he took him on... Ah!]

Falker, I think? A-Anyway, if you beat him you can basically fly wherever you want, whenever you want instead of walking around. I think all of the bigger towns have a gym and it doesn't really matter which order you get them in, but... some of them can be pretty tough.

Pokémon seem to eat just about anything. Human food, Pokémon food... They also eat Pokepuffs, but I guess you're not supposed to just feed them those.

[at least, Veronica hoped not. Hmm. Pausing ever so briefly, she hoped that her Sylveon wasn't getting fat off the veritable truckload of pastries she was eating.]

I think they sell some healthier stuff in the stores.

W-Well, they can fly like normal birds and stuff on their own, but there's a move that lets them carry you around called Fly.

[He knows what it's like to be a new person in town!]

Hiya Molly! Glad to see you got to Cherrygrove okay. And woah, you got a Sentret, that's awesome!

[And a shiny one too, by the looks of it. Which makes a little more sense to him now that his sparkly red skunk hatched not all that long ago.]

Badges are things you win when you beat the different gym leaders in towns all over Johto and Kanto! It's good to have badges cause Pokemon of higher levels you got in trades will listen to you if you have the right ones, and some badges you need if you want to be able to fly or surf n'stuff.

And like Roni said, Pokemon can eat pretty much anything! But like, those berries I told you about? They can eat those just fine, along with Pokepuffs and things like that.

Oh, right- well, most things you post on the Network are public! You can make posts anonymously if you got something to say that you don't want others to see, or you can lock a conversation if you're good at that sorta thing.

So just somethin' to keep in mind! Just in case you wanna talk about something and don't really want everybody seeing it. Most of the time it's a good idea to know the 'Gear numbers of friends so you can talk to them that way if you wanna just talk privately or whatever.

[Jimmy laughs at that, nodding.]

H'yeah, don't worry 'bout it too much though. I never really think about it all that much anyway.

[Of course, Jimmy's nothing short of an open book that never closes, so.]

But yeah, you could prolly get away with not getting badges s'long as you're cool with walking everywhere, but they're super useful to have! Plus, it's fun to work on collecting them!

Yup! And there's sixteen altogether, eight in each region. Each gym leader uses a different type of Pokemon when they battle, too. So like- Falkner, in Violet, uses all Flying Type Pokemon! So a good type to have when fighting him would be Electric or Rock.

[Jimmy nods.]

That's alright. You don't have to worry about it right now, least not 'till your Pokemon are a bit stronger, anyway.

[He smiles a little, tipping his head to the side.]

Aw, is Aria what you named your Natu?

That's pretty cool! I like those names a lot.

[As he says that he offers Scott a friendly wave.]

Nice t'meetcha, Scott! You'll take care of Molly, right?

They're these little pastries. They're multicolored and some have more toppings on them then others. I think they're originally from this region called Kalos, that some of us got to go to a little while ago.

[She pauses again, frowning...]

Don't eat them, though, Molly. [She stated, almost urgently, as thought trying not to forget.] They taste awful to Humans.

It's actually pretty easy if you know what you're doing! All you really need to do is beat the gym leader in a pokemon fight, but a lot of the leaders have certain types of pokemon they like to specialize in. Falkner for example uses flying types, so... birds and stuff. If you want it to be really easy, find out what they use and use their weaknesses against them.

They're not really picky eaters so... you could probably feed them anything and they'll be fine.

[ At least his aren't complaining. ]

Most of them seem to like berries. As for your question about badges...

[ He'll turn to fumble in his pack for a second before holding up a shiny little bauble -- his Zephyr badge. ]

This is a badge. It's proof that you were able to beat a gym leader.

[Oh wow a kid. A kid!!

Time to be super helpful.]

Pokemon aren't that hard to feed, they're usually pretty good about letting you know what they like and what they don't.

And if you're out on the routes, they can usually find their own food okay. Just don't eat any berries that they bring you, sometimes the little ones don't know any better that berries make humans sick.

I'm Shaun; what's your name?
