[Hello network! Have a bright looking Molly, sitting cross-legged on what looks like the floor of her hotel room, with the side of the bed as a backdrop. Curled up in her lap is an adorable very recently hatched Amaura, who is nonetheless quite alert and looking up at Molly as she sets the video up.]

-- okay, there.

[She sits back and waves, and then pets the ice dinosaur, looking down at him.]

Look! It's so cool that there are dinosaurs here. Even if they're not really dinosaurs.

He took a long time to hatch so I wonder if he'll grow really slowly too. And then get really big.

[Ice dino makes a soft noncommitical (probably) sound. Molly is lost in amazement that she now owns an ice dino for like a second before she looks up at the video again with another kind of smile; a more searching, curious one.]

Okay, I wanted to ask something. I know a lot of people have a lot of pokémon, but you can only have six with you, right? So you put the rest in the computer.

Does anybody know what it's like for them there? People told me that time stops back home when we're here so maybe it's kind of like that for them?

I have six now and it's so weird to think about putting them somewhere that isn't really here.

And how do you pick which ones to put in there anyway?

[Another little pause,]

Oh and I know it's really rainy right now but if anybody wants to do anything or say hi to Jay you can call me.

_{[Oh. She'd halfway expected to have to explain, to have to say the words and she wouldn't have really wanted to, so she looks up in a surprised way when it looks like Carlos gets it. When she doesn't have to say it because he understands. And he's apologising.]

[She hugs the ice dinosaur a little closer to herself and draws her legs up, the very image of an unsure, vulnerable child, but her tone is surprisingly steady even if she's quiet.]}

It's okay.

... I don't know. I hope so. I actually wanted a pokémon like this cause ... cause my dad had ice powers, too.

I'm sure he would be proud of you too. You're a very smart girl, you know. [He's no stranger to smart girls; a smart girl in Night Vale is now their mayor and another helped stage a revolution against a company takeover. He's very well aware of what smart girls are capable of, and he's certain Molly would fit right in with Dana and Tamika Flynn.

[And then he hears her say that last bit. And. What. What.] Ice powers?!

_{[She is smart and has been told that she is before, but she still feels kind of reassured when he calls her that. It's helpful in a familiar way. So she nods, still quiet, until she elaborates at his little outburst.]

[In a fairly low tone of voice still, but it comes easier now. When she's gotten to know so many other people with powers and when the pokémon around them have them too.]}

Yeah. He could make ice with his hands. Snowflakes and stuff, and frost.

[He's seen and heard of so much where he comes from that as much as this news is a surprise at first, he has no problem taking Molly at her word on this one. Still, he can't help being very curious.]

Could he do that since he was small? Or was it something he learned to do?

_{[She shrugs.]}

I don't know. He's always had it that I can remember. But he told me I couldn't tell anyone about it.

_{[She drops her eyes a bit to the Amaura, who is leaning down on her arm to sleep. It doesn't surprise her that Carlos is asking a lot, because he's like Mohinder that way, but she feels like she has to be careful in how she answers even though she knows she should be safe here.]}

I see. Interesting. And you haven't noticed yourself being able to do anything unusual? ...Well, I would thank you for telling me, but you probably should listen to your Dad. Some people might not react as favorably as I did, although there are a lot of people here that might understand. Actually, probably more people here than anywhere else.

Powers don't work here, anyway.

_{[She can't help but be kind of defensive in the way she says that, eyeing the gear cautiously, like she's scared she might get scolded. She knows she shouldn't tell people just like that ... at home. But it's different here.]}

Oh, is that right? Well, that must be inconvenient for people who can do useful things. [He doesn't mean to frighten her; he's just quite curious. He'll have to be careful because it's obvious she's sensitive about this.]

_{[She nods, slowly.]}

It is. But a lot of people here could do things like that. So I think it's okay if I talk about it here. I never did it back home.

_{[So ... just so Carlos knows that she knows. She's not stupid enough to just tell anyone. She just didn't think it'd be bad if she told him.]}

If you'd like to and you feel safe, I suppose I don't see why you shouldn't.

_{[She nods, and then falls quiet for a little while. It's probably obvious she's thinking - she doesn't want to keep talking about her dad, but ... so she guesses she'll stay on this topic, even if she now feels a little unsure.]}

You never knew people back home who could do things, right?

Well, not exactly. Not the sort of thing your dad could do, in any case. Where I was growing up I never knew anyone who could do things, but the place I'm living now...well, not all of them are human, but there are a fair amount of people who can do things.

What do you mean, they aren't human?

Exactly that! One of them, for example, is a glowing cloud that drops dead animals! He also has a daughter so he's the president of the school board.

_{[... stares ...]}

What?

I know it sounds weird! It totally does! And it was really, really, weird and concerning when the Glow Cloud came into town, especially since he has a habit of possessing my boyfriend. But he's not so bad really, once you get used to him existing and occasionally making you hail him.

You have a boyfriend?

_{[Excuse the incredulous sounding tone, Carlos, she's eleven. It's quickly traded for something more concerned though.]}

Is he here too?

Yes, I do! His name's Cecil Palmer. You might have seen him around, since he got here a few months before I did. I like to tell him he dresses like a baby boomer mom, but he has this amazingly beautiful voice, so he works as the radio announcer in Night Vale, which is where we live.

You sound like you really like him.

_{[Little frown. But that's weird though. A little bit, at least. Right?]}

It's good he's not back home though. Or I bet you'd have worried a lot.

I do! Yeah, it would have been especially bad since I would have had no way to contact him. ...Sometimes I'm bad about calling, but I never forget for too long. And he would have worried. So it's really fortunate that both of us are here, so we don't have to deal with that.

A couple of people told me that time stops back home anyway. But it's hard not to worry when there are people there that you can't talk to or anything.

I've heard that. I guess time is really broken around here, huh? Yeah, even knowing that, I probably would have worried, but that's good to know anyway. Strange things happen in Night Vale and if Cecil and I are both here, I'd be really worried about what might go wrong while we were gone.

Do you think they'd miss you back if time wasn't stopped?

I'd hope so! They'd miss Cecil more for sure, though. The whole town loves him and his show. I was just sort of adopted since Cecil started talking about me on his show...

He must really like you.
