... did everybody get their powers back?

[A video that's short and sweet and shows cautious excitement, but also a trace of fear.]

It's not another dream, right?

[Action anywhere: Guess who REALLY LIKES HAVING HER POWER BACK? It's Molly. She's gonna be leaning back against a tree with her knees drawn up and her Johto and Kanto map books against her legs, flipping through and marking stuff that follows some kind of logic that's not immediately apparent.]

[That is, when she's not just looking around somewhat anxiously - she's confident she'll find her way back since she can see people again, but she still doesn't like the shifting world all that much. It's unpredictable. She could end up anywhere, and she does; the shifting routes can lead you pretty stray even when you're just trying to get back to Goldenrod.]

[ Oh. Naminé's definitely more unsure about that; waking up with something very important missing is not something she wants to experience again. ]

She said twice a year.

_{[She gnaws on her lip for a moment, picking up on Naminé's unease. Does this help??]}

But she also said it's not gonna last, or anything.

[ A little bit, at least. ]

I wonder how long it'll last--but, I'm glad you seem happy, Molly.

Well ... I can see everybody now. So I know they're okay.

_{[That's what makes her happy. Or at least more okay, cause she's also a little spooked, still.]}

I'm not sure I like the rest though. The world is being weird.

Mm. That's good, at least. Knowing the people you love are safe... you must be relieved.

[ She nods, frowning lightly to herself. ]

Yes... very, very weird.

Yeah. I don't think they're totally okay, but I know they're alive, and that they're not in danger or anything.

_{[She studies Naminé for a moment, frowning slightly.]}

Are you happy?

Mm. That's... a bit of a relief, isn't it?

[ The question's unexpected, and it shows in her expression. It takes her a moment to reply. ]

Well... I'm not exactly completely happy with what's... with how I woke up. It's... different, from what I've gotten used to here.

_{[Well, Naminé asked her. So of course she's gonna ask it back when things don't seem alright, and that answer just worries her.]}

What's wrong?

[ ... oh boy. Naminé takes a deep breath and stays quiet for a while, staring down at her hands. Molly... she likes Molly, a lot, and she doesn't want to frighten her or startle her away, because Naminé considers Molly a friend. ]

Well... um. I'm... not entirely human. Here, in this world, I am human, but back where I come from... I'm what is called a Nobody. I... exist, without a heart. I'm half of a person.

_{[Wait ... what? There's definitely a moment of confusion as Molly tries to figure out what that means, exactly, and she can't quite make it work at first.]}

... How can someone exist without a heart?

The heart is where your emotions reside, where they are born... I don't really know much about it myself, but... I do know that without a heart, I don't really have a right to exist.

[ It's something that's been drilled into her head, and she says it simply, without any sort of sadness. As far as Naminé is concerned, it's true. ]

But you're alive. You have to have a heart to be alive.

_{[Naminé's certain tone of voice doesn't help Molly, so she tries to be certain right back - this is how the world is supposed to work. You need a heart to be alive, and Namine's not dead. So it can't be like what she's saying.]}

I'm... alive, yes, but... [ Even she doesn't know how to explain it, because she knows she's alive. But... ] ... I'm not... whole.

But ...

_{[Okay, trying to reassess this, and it takes her a few seconds before she frowns, unsure but maybe onto something?]}

You mean like it's your soul?

[ That... sounds about right. Naminé nods. ]

Mm... I think that's it. Or, at least, as close as it can be described.

_{[And now she's just worried. Even more so.]}

But how can you not have it?

Did somebody take it?

[ Naminé can tell, and now she feels awful for it. ]

I was... "born" without it. It's okay-- it's just what I am, Molly.

But it's not okay. Cause you don't like it, and you're sad.

[ Even though Naminé knows she's fairly transparent when it comes to her emotions, she's still... surprised that Molly's picked up on that. ]

I... don't exactly like it, no. [ Quietly, because this level of honesty where her emotions are concerned is not something she's accustomed to. ] But... I can't change it. Johto has given me a heart, but... it's only temporary.

[ She's not even going to take about how, when she goes home, she'll fade away. Obviously Molly is upset enough; Naminé doesn't want to make that worse. ]

_{[As upset as Molly's getting, this has a lot more to do with her concern and confusion about Naminé than anything for herself. She can't really believe what Naminé's telling her, honestly - it doesn't make sense to her, and that overshadows the real fear and implication of what Naminé's life or state of being means.]}

Well ... when did you get it?

Cause you said you have feelings in the heart, right? But you're sad. So you still have one. So if you were sad or happy at home then it can't be true that you don't have a heart.

[ Honestly, she knows what she is shouldn't matter. Lightning had told her as much during the dream event. It had been somewhat easy for her to believe that when Naminé had her heart set firmly in her chest. But now, when that's gone and she feels so much different? It's hard to remember that, and even harder to believe. ]

My heart? ... When I arrived here.

[ Pause. ]

I've been told that I'm... special, which is why I can feel. [ Her brow furrows. She doesn't like to remember her time in Castle Oblivion, because it's... it makes a lump in her throat, makes it hard to breathe. But Marluxia and Larxene and Axel, they had felt something. But those emotions had been born from memories, or so she had heard. Naminé has no memories of the person she'd been before--Kairi--so... ]

... Mm. You... have a point. I did feel... sad, and happy, back there-- [ She's hesitant to call it home, because Johto is the first home she's every really had. ] --mm. Thank you, Molly.

[ Thank you, for your kindness. For your concern. It'll still be a long time for her to truly believe, because the thoughts and words that say otherwise have been cemented so firmly in her mind that it's difficult to believe.

But it's getting easier. ]

_{[Oh good. That helps, that she seems to have gotten Naminé over on her side at least on something, and she gives her a small, unsure but sincere smile.]}

It's okay.

Maybe that you're special means you don't need a heart to be normal, anyway.

[ Naminé's smile is quiet, too. She gives the female Meowstic that's wandered over a little pat, and said Meowstic looks right into the camera at Molly. ]

Oh-- Ellie says thank you. For cheering me up. [ A tiny blush, and Naminé hugs Ellie close. ]

... Maybe so. I've... never heard that before.

_{[Energy picking back up, Molly gives Ellie a little wave.]}

Hi Ellie. _{[and to Naminé,]} She's really cute.

I'll keep it in mind, Molly.

[ Ellie perks up, letting out a quiet mewl. ]

She is. She's the first Pokémon I ever caught. Would you like to meet her brother?
